The line graph provides information about the demographic rate in different age groups in Chile from 1975 to 2035.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of people aged 65 and older witnessed an upward trend, whereas the opposite was true for the aged 0 to 14. In addition, the figure for people aged 65 and older has been the highest group among three groups.
Looking at the graph more closely, one can see that, in 1975, the proportion of age group 0 to 14 was close to 40%, declining drastically to 30% in the next 10 years. Afterwards, the aged 0-to-14-years suffered a gradual drop from 30% to 20% in 2025, forecasted to decrease continuously to nearly 20% in 2035. As opposed to the share of the age group 65 and older that showed an increasing inclination, despite its starting at the bottom of the period, accounted for 5% in the first year. In the next 40 years, that of the aged 64 and over will grow relatively, predicted to peak at 15% from 2015 to 2035.
Apart from that, the figure for the age group 15 to 64 has been dominating throughout the period shown, with just over 50% in 1975, climbing roughly and peaking in 2015. Although it is estimated that it will drop substantially to 60% in 2035, it was the highest group during the period.
