In 1984, the share of students enrolled in face-to-face courses was 67%, whereas the figure for correspondence courses was at 20%. The remaining 13% of students studied mixed-media courses.
In 1994, online courses emerged, attracting only 12% of students. The figure for face-to-face courses dropped noticeably to 53%, while that for mixed-media courses rose slightly to 15%. Interestingly, the share of students enrolled in correspondence courses remained stable.
In 2004, the most dramatic changes occurred. The percentage of students enrolled in correspondence courses fell significantly, reaching 5% by the end of the period. Mixed-media courses attracted 20% of all students in 2004. Although the share of students enrolled in face-to-face courses was dominant during the period, it decreased to 40%.
