The graph compares the distribution of male and female employees in seven university departments in 2012.
Overall, there were noticeable imbalances in certain faculties, with men outnumbering women in engineering and business, whereas women dominated education and arts. In contrast, other faculties, such as law, medicine, and science, had relatively more balanced distributions.
Engineering had the largest proportion of male staff, at just above 80%, compared to only 20% for females. A similar trend was evident in business, where 60% of the workforce was male, leaving 40% for females. Conversely, another significant gender disparity can be seen in education, with women making up approximately 75% of the academic staff, whereas men represented just 25%.
In the other faculties, such as arts, law, medicine, and science, the gender split was almost balanced. Arts was staffed with 50% women and 40% men. Male staff in the law and science faculties were slightly more numerous than their female counterparts, accounting for nearly 60%. On the other hand, the medicine faculty had equal male and female staff proportions, both comprising around 50%.
