Overall, almost half of the citizens who were “Non-proficient” in English were unemployed. In contrast, the most employed were native English speakers. In terms of occupations, individuals who were Non-proficient in English occupied the highest share rate among a variety of jobs.
First, native English speakers had the highest employment rate for both genders, with 75.7 percent for men and 68.3 percent for women. For those who were proficient in English, 72.3 percent of men were employed and almost 58.3 percent of women. Conversely, individuals who were not proficient in English had the lowest employment rate, with 68 percent for men and 34.3 percent for women.
Looking at occupations, non-proficient English speakers recorded the highest employment rate in elementary fields at 38.2 and 21.1 percent. In contrast, those who spoke English as their main language accounted for 17.7 percent in professional roles and 13.2 percent in technical departments.
