Overall, while the number of jobs in retail and healthcare increased significantly, there was a slight decline in manufacturing and agriculture. Notably, retail and healthcare grew consistently and stayed in the same level the end of the period.
Starting with manufacturing, in 1960 despite rise gently from 15 million to 20 million, the number of employees decreased slowly. Agriculture fell slightly, starting at around 5 million in 1960, declined to 2 million in 2020. Interestingly, it was the least employed in four various sectors.
There was a noticeable discrepancy in the amount of jobs in retail and healthcare in 1960. Their respective figures were 5 million and 2 million. In 2020, they exhibited comparable levels of employment and they both peaked to around 15 million. However they had been in the least level, they were the most employed jobs in the last period.
