The chart illustrates the percentages of news source accessed by people in the USA from 2012 to 2015. Overall, the traditional methods were less popular, and the accession of website and TV outweighed other methods over the years.
In 2012, websites and TV was the most popular source of news (about 75% and 78% respectively). On the other hand, social media was not attractive with news reader – only 20% which was just a quarter of two previous sources. The percentage of printed news was a half to it of news from websites (nearly 40%).
Through the year, while the proportions of websites and TV users remain at the same place, there was a noticeable change in that of other means. Despite an increase in 2013, printed news was less popular across the years, shown in the dramatic decline of more than double in the next 2 years. In contrast, the rate social media users had a double growth and reached 40% in 3 years. This trend was the same to website and TV users but more slightly (approximately 80% and 10% respectively).
