The map depicts how an Australian zoo has changed from 1960 to current time. Overall, there are two remarkable shift in the layout of the zoo including the rearrangement of different animal areas and the construction of a cable car system catering for visitors’ demands.
In 1960, visitors entered the zoo from the bottom left corner. There was a winding path for tourists to follow with each distinct enclosures for African and Australian animals located on this route. Further along the path were a gift shop, a seal show, a chimpanzee area and a bird show. Located on the east of the zoo was a picnic area for those who want to take a a rest. At the top of the map, there was the entrance with a harbor situated close to it.
Currently, the entrance has been upgraded by designing a prominent archway. The path now includes a wild animal enclosure and the African animal section has been relocated. The gift shop has experienced the same situation, marked by the erection of a two-floor building. Of particular note is the chimpanzee which has been replaced by African animal area. The picnic area and seal show remain in their original locations. A conspicuous thing to consider is the implementation of a new cable car system to connect different zones, embodied by a more accessible entrance.
