The map illustrates the percentage of people from several countries who is ready to eat insect based products, while the bar chart compares the prices of differet food which can be found in markets.
It is evident from the bar chart that the prices of insect based products are more expensive than common food and that Mexico has the most willingness to eat insect based products.
To begin, the proportion of people who is ready to eat insects are varying in countries from the least ready Japan with 21 percent to the most ready Mexico with 71 percent respectively. The biggest countries as USA, Australia, UK and India have the pretty same willingless at the range from 32 percent to 35 percent. However, China and Brazil have much more readiness comparing to the reviewed countries with 44 and 45 percents respectively. Moreover, poor countries like Peru and Thailand have the high percentage of willingness.
Interestingly though, insects have the highest costs as a food, especially the wild ones. The price of the most expensive food is 10.65 USD per kilogram for wild weaver ant whereas the cost of the most expensive non insect product is 3.03 USD per kilogram for beef.
