The two maps illustrate the transformation of a village park over a period of ten years. Overall, the village park has undergone a significant expansion and modernization, most notably in the enlargement of a tennis court and football pitch. While most of its original facilities have been retained, a number of new features such as a cycle path, a picnic area, and a café have been added, making the park more accessible and convenient for visitors. These improvements, however, have come at the expense of the leafy environment that was present ten years ago.
Ten years ago, village park used to offer only a few facilities for its users. The access to the entrance was from the top left corner, with a pair of tennis courts to the North and the car park with a capacity of 20 vehicles was on the other side of the entrance. A spacious football pitch was situated at the center of the map, while children’s play area was in the far right corner of the village park. Woodland occupied the bottom-right corner, directly adjacent to which was a pond area.
Since then, the village park has changed substantially. The removal of forest area has made room for a café, while the former pond has been replaced by newly constructed boating lake. A new picnic area has been introduced on the left side of the park, and a cycle path now runs around the entire perimeter. Tennis courts have doubled in number and the car park has been extended to accommodate 50 vehicles while remaining in their original location. Moreover, public toilets have been constructed to the south of the football pitch. Other alterations include the addition of children’s soft play area located directly beside original playground.
