Overall, significant changes have occurred in the city of Nelson from 2000 to the present day, including the transformation of old markets, the establishment of new transportation facilities and infrastructure, and the addition of recreational spots and amenities in various areas of the city.

In 2000, Nelson had a university located in the northern part of the city, along with a train station and an old market in the western part. In addition, there was a main road for cars and a port at the bottom of the city. However, in the present day, the old markets have been replaced with a new covered market, the main car road has been transformed into a pedestrian zone, and a bike rental scheme has been implemented in the city center. Additionally, a hall of residence has been added near the university, along with the construction of a new shopping center. Notably, trees have been removed to accommodate these changes.

Furthermore, the city now features an upgraded train station and the addition of bars and clubs at the port, providing new recreational options for the residents and visitors. It is evident that the city has experienced significant development and modernization, emphasizing the integration of new facilities alongside the existing ones, thus enhancing the accessibility and liveliness of Nelson.
