Nelson city has undergone quite the changes since 2000 to the current day and age.

In comparison, it seems that Nelson city has managed to grow a lot in the past years. With the addition of new things added in the city such as restaurants, bars, clubs and many more.

If we look at Nelson city in the current day and age, we can clearly see some major improvements. In the central area, it can be seen that there are a few major buildings that were added. Things such as a new shopping centre, new train station, new shop and covered market, newly added tramline and a brand new hall of residence. The materials that were onced used for the older station, markets are now being rebranded as a newer and better station and market alongside the new addition of covered market. Not only that but the city centre now has a bike rental scheme where you could ride a bike around the city centre.

Meanwhile in the port area, what used to be a road area for cars, are now changed to sidewalks for pedestrians to walk in. The port used to be a relatively quiet place with little to no things added, but with the new changes, there are also a couple new things such as restaurants, bars and clubs. It can be seen now that people can walk around the port area to enjoy both scenery and place to eat with family or going to the bar with friends.
