The two maps illustrate the changes undergone by the town of Lakeside between 2000 and 2009.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that with expansion of the Industrial complex and the construction of new facilities the green areas of the town of Lakeside has experienced a significant loss.
In 2000, the warehouses lied in the north of Lakeside, boarding in the west with residential area, with woodland in the east, and with old town in the south. There is a lake within the north-east woodland, from which river flows to south-west of the map. On south-west of woodland situated the Industrial complex. The south of woodland is adjacent to Residential area. On south of the Old town located school. Right below the school is another residential area. On north-west of this Residential area is the arts centre.
By 2009, the warehouses, old town, arts centre, residential area were replaced by the car park, offices, multi-screen cinema, and shopping centre respectively. The half of the woodland and residential area were given over to expansion of the industrial complex. A new additional schools and new university has been constructed in place of the old town. The lake shrank into pond.
In summary, the area changed beyond all recognition with building of additional facilities and disappearance of large parts if the natural green areas, the only area which remained unchanged is the residential area in the north-west.
