The two maps illustrate the changes that took place in Wetherby between 2000 and 2016.
Overall, the town has experienced a complete transformation, marked by the conversion of certain areas and the replacement of others.
Over time, the area north of Main Street underwent considerable transformation. The farmland to the northeast of Wetherby, for instance, was developed into a residential complex, whereas the adjacent woodland and lake remained untouched. Additionally, the abandoned car factory in the northeast was transformed into a technology park, and the residential houses to the west were demolished to make way for apartment blocks.
In the south of Main Street, significant transformations occurred. The residential house with gardens situated in the northwest was converted into a hotel featuring a spa. Furthermore, by 2016, the office block to the west of this house had been expanded, leading to the replacement of all the cottages. The traditional open-air market was replaced by a supermarket, and the shops in the northeast were turned into a multi-storey parking facility. Additionally, trees were planted in the square located to the south of the former market area.
