The two maps show how an island called Pentland in a coastal area had changed in the years from 1950 to 2007. Overall, the island had been urbanized by adding establishments during the period. It is also clear that the biggest change was removing grassland totally.
Before the development of the island, it used to be vacant and unused. There were two grassland areas, which took half of the island on both sides of the road. Additionally, the car park was located just above the grassland on the right-side island in the rounded area. Moreover, the opposite of the cark park was an industrial area, and the end of the road, there was the sea, which stood out in the region.
After the transformation, the island underwent striking changes, which create a stark contrast between the two versions of the given maps. After cleaning the grassland, in its location, shops, houses and cinema had been built. Having demolished the industrial area, the park was constructed, which links the swimming pool, as well as Multi-storey car park in the top left-side corner. Another notable change was apartments, which was situated in the top right-side of the map. Regarding the sea, yachts were added for use and called Yacht Marine by 2007.
