The maps illustrate changes made to Liverton docks from 1980 to now. Overall, the Liverton docks have undergone remarkable changes, with the most notable being the addition of several new facilities and infrastructures for convenience purposes. In addition, this area has been transformed from an industrial shipping hub into a multi-functional zone.
Looking at the North bank, the warehouse in the east has been replaced by a kid’s playing area, while the west one also has been converted to the education centre. The crane between the 2 warehouses is knocked down to construct a new sailing club. Regarding the river, it used to facilitate water transportation in 1980 but now there is only a ship museum on the west and a new bridge with a flood barrier to the east side of the river.
Turning to the South bank of the map, the changes concern the demolition of a warehouse and a crane. This is accompanied by the construction of a parking area to the right of the previous warehouse which is converted to apartments nowadays. Additionally, a hotel was built next to the left side of the apartment recently, standing near the previous crane. Finally, there is an appearance of a new river walk zone to enhance the safety for people.
