Examining the charts, in the United Kingdom, expenditure on food and drinks decreased dramatically from 23% in 1980 to 13% in 2008. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, expenditures on transportation and leisure displayed similar trends, with slight declines of 1% from 1980.
In contrast, there was an upward trend in the percentage of utility bills in both countries. In the UK, this category increased from 26% to 28%, while in New Zealand, it rose from 27% to 31%.
