This scheme consists of 2 graphs – a pie chart breaking down the average monthly student expenditure and a bar chart representing information about the sources of student income. The values in the pie chart consist of whole numbers, while the bar chart is represented by percentages.
The pie chart shows us that the average student in the UK spends the most money on rent – about 385 pounds which is also almost 50 percent of all the expenses for the whole month. Another thing that UK students have to acknowledge is the cost of their food. On average, the students in Britain spend about 125 pounds per month. Some other notable expenses are the traveling ones, which consist of about 52 pounds, and socializing – which costs 64 pounds, and of course the bills. They make up about a twelfth of the total cost – around 70 pounds.
The second graph provides us with information on how the students in the UK receive their income. Most students can pay off their expenditures via student loans, their families, or part-time jobs that they are forced to take in case their family is unable to support them financially. This group of students takes about 80 to 70 percent of all students. Some other methods consist of students using up their savings or having to resort to bank overdrafts. About 40 percent of all students choose those options. The last method presented is grant funding which appears to be the least popular of them all – with less than 40 percent of students using it.
