The pie charts illustrate information about global spending patterns, the distribution of the world’s population, and the consumption of resources.
Overall, food accounts for the largest proportion of world spending, while clothing represents the smallest share. In terms of population, Asia contains by far the highest percentage of the world’s inhabitants. Moreover, the USA and Europe together consume a disproportionately large amount of the world’s resources compared with their share of the global population.
Regarding expenditure, people spend the greatest amount on food, which makes up 24% of total global spending. Transport is the second-largest category at 18%, followed by housing at 12%. By contrast, only 6% of spending is allocated to clothing. The remaining 40% falls into the category of other goods and services, making it the largest single segment on the chart.
As for population distribution, Asia dominates with 57% of the world’s population. Europe and the Americas each account for 14%, while Africa represents 10%. The remaining 5% of the global population lives in other regions.
A different pattern can be seen in resource consumption. Although Europe and the USA together contain only 28% of the world’s population, they consume 60% of global resources. In contrast, the rest of the world, which is home to 72% of the population, uses just 40% of these resources. This highlights a significant imbalance between population size and resource consumption.
