Overall, it is clear that there was an upward trend in the percentage of household expenditures from food, health care, transportation and other categories, while the opposite was true for oil. It is also worth mentioning that the figures for education remained more or less unchanged over the given period.

When it comes to housing, it was the only category in household expenditure which witnessed a downwards trend. In 1950, housing formed 72.1 percent of expenditure. In 2010, this proportion decreased by almost 50 percent. As for education, it contributed to around 6.5 percent of total outgoings in both years.
