The graphs show the share of job postings for three different professions (software engineers, sales associates and teachers) in 1995 and 2020.
Overall, there are major changes in the proportions. Job postings for software engineers had a sizeable increase from 1995 to 2020, on the other hand, the postings for the other two professions had a decrease .
In 1995, sales associates had the biggest share of postings, with forty-five percent of the total. Teachers were the second, with 40%. The smallest profession in that year were software engineers, with only 15%.
In 2020, the proportions had a dramatic shift from 1995. Software engineers went from being the profession with the lowest share of the job postings to the biggest, having 40% of the total in 2020, which represents a 25 percentage point(p.p.) increase from 1995. However, the proportions for the other two professions decrease, each of them have 30% of the total, representing a 10 p.p. and 15 p.p. drop in proportions for teachers and sales associates, respectively.
