The pie graph above depicts data regarding the useage of multiple type of cooking oils in the US in the years of 2005 and 2020.
Overall, there are 6 different types of oil used in the United States for cooking and it is evident that in both years, the most used oil is generated from olive.
Starting with 2005, with 35%, oilve oil was the most preferred type of cooking oil, followed by canola oil which consitute 25 per cent. The third most popular choice was sunflower oil which take up a 15 percentage of the total oil usage. Coconut and soybean oil shared the same portion of total oil usage and the least favoured option was peanut oil.
In 2020, olive oil kept its first place although with a slight decrease of 5% from the 2005. Unlike olive oil, the preference for canola oil went up by 5 per cent. While sunflower oil stayed at the same percentage, coconut oil experienced the most change (10%) and equilized its share to sunflower oil. The share of oil used for cooking purposes was still equal when it comes to soybean and peanut oil despite the fact that their portion decreased by double in this year.
