The pie charts show the size of classes in primary schools in four Australian states in 2010.
Overall, most classes had between 21 and 25 students in all four states. The smallest proportion was generally for classes with 20 students or fewer. The Australian Capital Territory had the highest percentage of classes with 21-25 students.
In New South Wales, 37% of classes had between 21 and 25 students, while 33% had between 26 and 30 students. Classes with 20 students or fewer accounted for 26%, and only 4% had more than 30 students. In South Australia, the figures were 33% and 35% for classes with 21-25 and 26-30 students respectively. Another 28% had 20 students or fewer, while 4% had more than 30.
In the Australian Capital Territory, 51% of classes had 21-25 students, which was the highest figure shown. A further 38% had 20 students or fewer, while 10% had 26-30 students and just 1% had more than 30 students. Finally, in Western Australia, 42% of classes had 21-25 students, compared with 27% for 26-30 students, 26% for 20 students or fewer and 5% for more than 30 students.
