Overall, French remained the most popular choose in both years despite seeing decrease in its share. While Spanish and Italian become more common choice, the percentage of those who choose Russian and German slightly declined.
Only two of the given languages such as Spanish and Italian became more popular over the years. Italian, being the second popular choice among the students at the start, started with 20% in 2009 and ended up at 24% in 2014. Although the percentage of thoose who prefered to study Spanish was slightly less than the share of Italian chosen students, they showed exactly the same proportion of 24% as those who chose Italian.
Other three languages including Russian, German, and French experiences a mere decline in the number of learners. Despite seeing decrease from 43% to 34%, French maintained its leadership. While Russian and German languages were chosen by 9% and 12%students in 2009, the final proportion was 8% and 10% respectively in 2014.
