The plan shows the layout of a grocery store in 2010 and its current arrangement, highlighting the main changes.
Overall, it is evident that development brought about dramatic changes to store space, with the shop providing a more diverse selection of goods and greater size.
The store contained three shelving units of various goods, with additional areas around it. As we enter from the bottom-left corner, we would see baskets occupying a small area on the left side and spacious checkout counters on the opposite.
There was baked goods on zone that went along to the end of the store at left, whereas drinks arranged along the right side. Furthermore, the top section of the store is divided equally between meat products and dairy items, such as milk and ice cream. As we passed through the checkouts, we would come across three shelving units paired by product category, including vegetables and fruits, sweets and snacks, as well as tinned foods and toiletries.
At present, major changes have been made. A new entrance has been added to the front of the shop on the right-bottom corner. The baked products in the left side had been replaced with frozen ready meals. Opposite to frozen ready meals, new café is introduced alongside with drinks, which now occupying smaller space. On north wall, the space reserved for milk has expanded by two-thirds, reducing the area for ice cream and meat. In middle of the store, three shelving units have been reorganized to display fruits and vegetables alongside tinned foods and baked goods and toiletries, with the exception for sweet and snacks, which did not experience any change. The checkout area has also been upgraded, with the introduction of self-service checkouts, while baskets and trolleys are available near both entrances.
