The pictures compare the layouts of traditional and modern Japanese house.
Overall, it is clear that there are many different features between furnitures of the conventional and modern house. The old version seems like more multifunctional; on the other hand, the newer house has more private rooms, and has its own job.
Downstairs in the old house, the middle stairs was surrounded by a kitchen, a bathroom and one private room; the modern version, in contrast, have no internal walls, this set up gives more flexible use of space, and the bathroom was moved on to the upstairs. The floor of traditional room was mated by tatami as same as the older version, and can unfold at night.
Upstairs, it is noticeable that the newer has been separated into five small room with two major functions in comparison with the old one. While the conventional building has only two bedroom, the modern one adds a main bedroom next to the stairs and a pair of bathroom which was divided by internal walls, enhancing the level of sanitary convenience.
