The maps detail the transformation of the ground floor of a museum from 1990 to 2010. Overall, the most signifiant chage observed from the pictures was the development of some areas and the addition of new facilities. It is also important to note that a few places still remained the same after 2 decades.
Looking at the maps in details; in 1990, the gift shop was located in the upper left corner of the map, but after twenty years was converted into a cafe and gift shop. The statue next to the stairs, which was at the top of the ground floor, was removed to the middle of the map while those stairs remained stable. There was the archaeology gallery in the top right-hand of the picture in 1990, but after 2 decades it was demolished to make way for the construction of a children’s interactive zone and a poster display.
At the bottom of the map, the entrance was expanded in width from 1990 to 2010. On the left of this part, there was the reception counter attached to the museum office, which was removed and enlarged to be separated from the office after 20 years. Both the natural history room and the local history room were unchanged in the middle left and the lower right corner of the layout correspodingly. Finally, there was an addition of a lift sited between the cafe and gift shop and the natural history room.
