The given maps illustrate how the South Wing of Walton Museum changed over a period of four years.
Overall, it is readily apparent that the museum experienced a certain number of modifications, most important of which include the expansion of feature rooms, the changing of stairs and the remaining unchanged of a special exhibition room, a shop and a reading room.
To the left of the exhibition hall, both the special exhibition room and the shop stayed the same throughout the period, while the entrance was located above display room, was built to an entrance hall, and an extra construction of a terrace on the top. In addition, the reception next to the book room was converted into a combined reception and cloakroom. Moreover, a restaurant was built on third floor in 2012, while this area had been vacant in 2008.
In terms of the remaining parts of the museum, the stairs in the middle of the building in 2008 were replaced by an elevator in 2012, and the reading room the on the second floor remained static. In contrast, a cloakroom situated under the book room was converted to a children’s play area. Furthermore, two new rooms were added: a self-service room and an exhibition room on the third and fourth floors, where there had previously been an open area, respectively.
