The pie charts give information about how people spend their holiday using four types of shelter in three different years.
Overall, the most prevalent accommodation in all years is staying with family and friends. In 1988, the option “staying with family and friends” made up 57 percent, which is more than half of the chart. However, 10 years later in 1998 this indicator declined to 54 percent, remaining the largest proportion. Yet in 2008 its amount decreased to 44 percent.
Nevertheless, camping prevalence was in second place, and in 1988 it started to peter out in the following years. In the next 10 years it dropped to 13 percent and to 12 percent in 2008. Meanwhile, the representation of rented apartments started to grow a little; the total number of rented apartments in 1988 was 8 percent, and in 1998 and 2008 it showed slight growth, going up to 12 percent and 22 percent. In addition, in 1988 the representation of hotels was 17 percent, until growing to 22 percent and remaining stable in 2008.
To sum up, staying with family and friends continued to decline but was still the most popular accommodation during the entire period.
