The table given illustrates how much four countries allocated to rail travel in 2007.
Overall, it can be seen that China had by far the highest rail transport usage in terms of both passengers and freight. In contrast, Canada saw the lowest levels of passenger traffic, although its freight transport figures were significantly higher compared to some other countries.
In terms of passenger numbers, China had the largest number of rail passengers, with 27 million people using the service. Malaysia and UAE followed with 5.9 and 5.5 million, respectively. While Canada reported significantly lower figures, at 0.3 million. Regarding distance traveled, China again topped the list with 1980 billion passenger kilometers, reflecting the extensive rail network and high population density. Malaysia and UAE came after that, though with a much lower figure of 770 and 780 billion kilometers. Canada showed minimal usage, with 80 billion kilometers.
As for freight transport, Canada was the leading country, moving 2820 tons of goods via rail. The other countries reported the same range of cargo with almost between 22 and 23 tons.
