The given table depicts the median annual distance that grown ups traveled, alongside with the means of transportation they used between 1977 and 2007.
Overall, the distance that could be approached by emission-free types of travel and motorcycle declined marginally whereas this trend for buses was more dramatic. However, this number fluctuated conversely when it comes to trains, taxis and private cars, out of which cars could be used to travel the most distance in both time points.
Looking at the table more closely, one can see that over the distance traveled by train went up minimally from 900 to 1000 miles while cars roughly doubled over the 30-year period, yet this upward trend was not as considerable compared to taxis, since their distance fourfolded from 200 to 800 miles during this timespan. On the other hand, while walking, bicycle and motorcycle slightly decreased by 10 to 100 miles, bus travel distance went down by 300 units. In comparison, cars dominated greatly over the others with 3,500 miles at the beginning and 7,100 miles at the end. On the contrary, the least used method was the bicycle in both years.
