The table illustrates the proportion of female executives in senior management in three companies, namely Eldan Ltd, Bamforth Ltd and Finsbury Ltd, over a 40-year period, starting from 1975.
Overall, all three companies witnessed a significant increase in the percentage of women in senior management positions. Among them, Eldan Ltd showed the most outstanding growth compared to the other two companies.
Looking at the details, during the period 1975-1980, Finsbury Ltd took the lion’s share of the percentage of female leaders, at 16%, followed by Bamforth Ltd at 9% and Eldan Ltd at 3%. However, the proportion of women holding management roles in Finsbury Ltd decreased by 2% in 1980, while Bamforth Ltd saw an increase to 11%. Specifically, the rate of senior female managers in Eldan Ltd still stood at 3% in 1980. In 1985, although Finsbury Ltd continued to have the highest percentage of women in top-tier administration (15%), it experienced a marginal growth of just 1% compared to 1980. Meanwhile, the rate of female representation in top management in Eldan Ltd nearly quintupled at 14% relative to its 1980 level.
Between 1990 and 2015, Eldan Ltd rose to the top position in the remaining period, starting at 28% in 1990, which was 6% higher than Finsbury Ltd. Only 15% of senior executive posts were held by women in Bamforth Ltd. Nonetheless, the percentage participation of women in senior management positions in Bamforth rose more steadily than that in Finsbury, climbing continuously 15% to 46%. Despite starting from a leading position, Finsbury became the company with the lowest proportion of female managers in 2015, at 26%.
