The table illustrates the percentage of women in senior management positions in three companies, namely Eldan Ltd, Bamforth Ltd and Finsbury Ltd, over a 40-year period from 1975 to 2015.
Overall, it is evident that the proportion of women in senior roles increased in all three companies. Eldan Ltd experienced the most dramatic growth, while Finsbury Ltd showed relatively moderate changes. By 2015, Eldan Ltd had by far the highest percentage of female senior managers.
In 1975, the figures were quite low across all companies, with Eldan Ltd having only 3%, Bamforth Ltd 9%, and Finsbury Ltd the highest at 16%. Over the next decade, there was a gradual rise. By 1985, Eldan Ltd had increased significantly to 14%, overtaking Bamforth Ltd at 13%, while Finsbury Ltd remained relatively stable at 15%.
From 1990 onwards, the upward trend became more noticeable. Eldan Ltd rose sharply to 28% in 1990 and continued climbing to 33% in 2000, before reaching a peak of 64% in 2015. Similarly, Bamforth Ltd experienced steady growth, rising from 15% in 1990 to 17% in 2000 and then increasing substantially to 46% by 2015.
In contrast, Finsbury Ltd showed more fluctuation. Although it rose to 22% in 1990, the figure slightly declined to 20% in 2000 and then increased modestly to 26% in 2015.
