The data below illustrates the proportion of employment in different fields of work between both genders in a certain country from 1986 to 2006. Overall, manufacturing industry decreased in popularity over the period. In contrast, banking and education became more common as time passed.
Initially, the majority of men worked in the manufacturing industry in 1986, accumulating over 32%, whereas the number of catering, education, and banking was scarce, accounting for only 16%, 13%, and 11%, respectively. However, education, accounting for 38%, was the most popular among females. It is followed by catering, manufacturing, and banking, having 26%, 18%, and 12%, respectively.
Evidently, in 1996, the number of individuals employed in catering, banking, and education sector increased to 22%, 20%, and 14%, respectively. On the other had, manufacturing plunged to 21%. By 2006, the rate of employment for banking and educating saw a slight increase by one, while catering stayed constant. Apparently, the manufacturing industry experienced a continuous decrease to 17%. Interestingly, the percentage of catering in women stayed constant across the period, while the proportion of banking and education increased moderately to 19% and 38%. Education also suffered a massive loss for female workers.
