Of the five nations, Turkey had the highest proportion of cusumers’ spending on food, drinks, and tobacco, at about 32 percent in 2020. Ireland had the second highest national consumer expenditure at approximately 29 percent. Similarly, the amout of customer expenditure on clothes and footwear was the greatest in Italy, contributing to 9%, while spending on leasure and education was greater in Turkey, at a little more than 4 percent, which was comparatively more than any other country.
In contrast, Sweden had the lowest share of national customer expenditure on both food. drinks, and tobacco, as well as clothes and footwear, with around 5 percent and just over 15 percent, respectively. On the other hand, consumer’s spending on leisure and education was lowest in Spain at nearly 2%.
