The table shows the percentage of household income, which is divided into five European countries, spent per month on four items. Overall, it can be clearly seen that all five countries spend their income on food and drink and housing, whereas clothing and entertainment are less households spend on these countries.
To begin with, the table indicates that housing is the major expenditure factor for UK, Germany, and France, at 37%, 33% and 31%, respectively. However, they spent approximately a quarter on food and drink. In addition, Turkey and Spain spent their income mostly on food and drink around a one-third, while they spent roughly a fifth of their income on housing.
On the other hand, France and Spain spent less their income on clothing, constituting 7% and 8% of their respective expenditure. In contrast, the other three countries, including Germany, Turkey and UK, spent around the same amount with range between 11% and 15%. All five countries spent on entertainment items at around just under 20%.
