The given table illustrates the percentage of students who attended four types of secondry schools, namely specialist schools, grammar schools, voluntary-controlled schools, and community schools from 2000 to 2009.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that in 2000, the highest proportion of students attended voluntary-controlled schools whereas the lowest trend in 2005 and 2009, learners’ attendance of specialist schools.
Turning to the percentage of students who attended community schools had a rose by 46 per cent and this rise is the highest peak at 58 per cent in 2009 while other schools declined over the period. Moreover, in 2000,the proportion of students’ attendance of specialists and communty schools had a same level at 12 per cent and in 2005, attending of communty students increased to 32 per cent whilist specialist schools’ attendance decreased to 11 per cent. In addition, attending to grammar schools increased from 24 per cent to 12 per cent. Furthermore, in 2009, the percentage of students who attended specialists schools and voluntary-controlled schools consisted 10 per cent and 20 per cent, respectively.
