The table shows the numbers of women who worked in different jobs in Hollywood in 1994 and in 2003, and the percentage changes during this time.
In 1994, the role occupied by the highest percentage of women was that of costume designer with 74.2% of the workers being women. In 2003, the percentage increased slightly to 76.1%, indicating a slight rise of 2.5%. However, the percentage of women working in the capacity of producers decreased significantly from 15.6% in 1994 to only 10.3% in 2003, which marks a considerable reduction of 34%.
On the other hand, more women held the position of editor, from 11.4% to 14%, a gain of 22.8%. Unfortunately, though, fewer women directors fell from 5% to 3%, down by 40%. Finally, the percentage of women writers rose from 10% to 12%, or an increase of 20%.
In general, while certain professions showed an increase in women workers, major roles like producer and director saw large declines, implying that women continue to find challenges in Hollywood.
