The table illustrates the shifts in the number of movie theaters in the city center, near the city center, the suburb and the countryside in a specific European country from 2004 to 2009.
Overall, the change rate in the suburb and the countryside witnessed a dramatic decline, while the city center and the near city center experienced a slight growth. However, the total number of cinemas still increases over 5-year period.
In the first year, the number of movie theaters in the city center was the highest, followed by near city center. To be specific, the city center has roughly 1,512 cinemas, which was triple that of near city center. Over the 5 years, these figures experienced a significant rise, with an increase 3,1% for the city center and 1.6% for near city center. The city center received 1,620 movie theaters and near city city center has 400 cinemas. This means, once again the quantity of cinema in the city center was 4 times higher than those in near city center.
In 2004, due to demand and many other reasons, the number of cinemas in the suburb was the least compared to four regions, about 40 cinemas. The countryside also has the same circumstances; however, the countryside still has more movie theaters than in suburbs, with approximately 108 movie theaters. Moreover, the quantity of cinemas in these regions has declined dramatically in 2009. The change rate in the suburbs decreased 25%, while the countryside only dropped 6%. Although, the total number of cinemas in different regions still increase with 2%, from 2,100 to 2,287 cinemas.
