The table provides information about the sales of mobile phones in millions of five distinct brands between 2006 and 2012.
Overall, all the brands experienced fluctuating behavior through the period, except for Samsung and Apple. Notably, the number of mobile phones sold by Nokia was the highest before Samsung replaced its position in 2012.
Regarding Nokia, in the first three years, it underwent a rapid growth in mobile phone sales from 345 to 475 millions sales in 2008. However, Nokia’s sales consistently fell and stopped at 335 million units, losing its top position. Conversely, Samsung witnessed a steady escalation from 117 to 396.5 million units, reaching the highest point of mobile phone sales among the five brands by the end of the tracking period.
Similarly, Apple showed an upward trend with a considerable rise of about 134 million mobile phone sales during the period, peaking at 135.8 millions sales in 2012. In 2006, Motorola’s mobile phones sales were triple those of Ericsson, but Motorola’s sales dramatically dropped in the following years. Ericsson reached its highest sales in 2007 at 102 millions mobile phones, and in 2012, it substantially decreased to 28 million mobile phones, which was parallel to the sales of Motorola in the same year.
