The table compares the proportion of energy produced from renewable resources in the UK and the number of workers in 2009.
Overall, the figure for solar energy required the highest number of workers, even though it produced the lowest energy. Despite producing the highest amount of energy, the hydropower sector required the fewest employees among other categories.
In terms of the percentages, hydropower showed the highest at 13.7%, while solar energy accounted for the smallest share, at 3.6%. Tidal power had 6.8%. Similarly, geothermal recorded approximately the same proportion of producing energy at 6.9%. Wind power produced 10.2% ranking second after hydropower.
By contrast, the solar energy sector accounted for the highest number of employees at 12,450, while hydropower had the fewest workers among other categories at 1,013. Tidal power and wind power accounted for 2,034 and 1,198, respectively, while geothermal had 4,590 employees.
