The tables provide information about the sales of Fairtrade-labelled tea and pineapples in five European countries (France, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway) in the years 2010 and 2015.
At first glance, according to the tea table, Austria, Germany and France were the leading countries in 2010. France maintained its leading phase five years later, in 2015. Norway had the lowest sales in both years, making it the least active country in Fairtrade tea trading during this period of time.
On the one hand, regarding tea sales in 2010, Germany and France had similar figures, with 2.8 and 2.5 million euros, respectively. Austria had the highest sales at 4 million euros, which was twice as much as the Netherlands, and Norway had 1.8 million euros, nearly equal to the Netherlands. In 2015, France saw a significant rise, reaching 21 million euros—more than eight times its 2010 figure. Austria also ascended its sales to 8 million euros, which was twice as much as it had recorded five years earlier. Germany and the Netherlands had similar results, with 3 and 2.7 million euros respectively, while Norway slightly increased to 2 million euros in 2015
On the other hand, pineapple sales showed a different trend. In 2010, Austria was the leading country with 16 million euros—eight times more than France, which had only 2 million. The Netherlands had sales of 1.6 million euros, close to France, whereas Norway and Germany had similar amounts at 2.8 and 3 million euros, respectively. By 2015, Austria’s sales had multiplied 3 times to 48 million euros, making itself the leading country. France increased to 6.5 million euros, while the Netherlands rose to 5 million, making France’s figure approximately 1.3 times higher. Meanwhile, Norway and Germany experienced slight decreases, recording 2 and 1.9 million euros,respectively.
