The two maps illustrate the changes in the Lakeside area between 2000 and 2009.
Overall, the area underwent significant development, with more modern facilities built and the old structures replaced, turning the region into a more urbanized and organized area.
In 2000, Lakeside had several traditional features such as a school, an arts centre, an old town, and some derelict warehouses located on the left side of the river. There was also a woodland area near a small lake in the north and an industrial complex in the southeast. Residential areas were found in both the northern and southern parts of the map.
By 2009, many of these features had changed. The old town and derelict warehouses were removed to make way for new facilities including a car park, offices, and a university. A multi-screen cinema and a shopping centre were also constructed near the school, replacing part of the residential area. Additionally, the small lake in the north was replaced by a pond, while the woodland area remained. The industrial complex in the southeast stayed the same, but the southern residential area expanded slightly.
Overall, Lakeside transformed from a relatively traditional town with old facilities into a modern area with more commercial and educational buildings by 2009.
