The diagrams compare the layout of Townsville Sports Centre in the years 1995 and 2015. North is indicated at the top in both floor plans.
Overall, the centre experienced significant development over the 20-year period, with the outdoor football pitch being removed and several new indoor facilities added, including a sports hall, sauna, showers, and a café.
In 1995, the reception was located in the centre of the building, with a swimming pool directly to its north. To the south of the reception was a restaurant, and to the east were changing rooms and a gym. Further east, outside the main building, there was a football pitch.
By 2015, the football pitch had been replaced by a large indoor sports hall, and the changing rooms were expanded and moved to the western side, with the addition of a disabled changing/toilet area and showers. The restaurant was removed, and a café was introduced in the southwest corner. The reception remained centrally located, and the swimming pool retained its position to the north. A sauna was added northeast of the pool, next to the expanded gym area in the southeast.
