Dear Mr Smith,
I am writing to apologize for the meeting i missed that held this morning at work. I am genuinely sorry.
What actually happened was that I had an emergency to attend to earlier in the day. Just as i was about leaving for work, i received a call that my mother had been rushed to the hospital and my attention was needed as there was no relative in close range asides myself. Of which one was needed to give her medical history and to fulfill necessary financial obligations at the hospital .
I immediately reached out to your secretary so she would help relay to you that i would be absent for the meeting, unfortunately she didn’t see the message i had sent before the meeting kickstarted. However, I sent a message to Mrs Johnson, the acting Head of the Marketing department requesting her to kindly put me up to speed on what was discussed in the meeting and she obliged to do so today.
I hope you forgive my absence and be assured of my commitment to this company and its future.
