The population of New York had an upward trend during the time period. In 1800, while 79,216 individuals preferred to live in New York, in 1900, this number rose dramatically to 3,437,202. This figure experienced a rapid increase and was almost 3 times higher (8,009,185).

The population in the other districts was 18,701, about a quarter of the total population in the 1800s. However, these numbers changed over the next 200 years, and the other places became the most popular districts, which were 81% of the total (6,471,089). These changes happened gradually, by about 20%.
