Dear Sir,
I am writing to address my concern on my accommodation, as I had certain expectations regarding the arranged conditions where I reside as an international student.
I am from India and currently enrolled at the university in a course for international students. As I was hesitant to move to a hostel, I was arranged a sharing apartment for my housing for which I was thankful. However, I was appalled by the unhygienic conditions of the apartment once I moved in. Firstly, the flat reeked of an odor due to a faulty plumbing line. Moreover, I was petrified to see that mice lived in the apartment, indicating abysmal conditions of hygiene. Besides that, as the other residents have a habit of smoking, the smell of cigarette fumes create significant inconvenience.
As per my expectation, I believed that I was to be accommodated in a single-room apartment, where I would not have to share the living arrangement with other tenants. Since I value privacy, a single room would provide peace and tranquility along with a distraction free atmosphere. Moreover, I looked forward to a decent standard of hygiene and cleanliness so I can feel welcome as an international student.
As the semester has just started and there is still time, I kindly request you to shift me to an alternate and cleaner housing arrangement where I can feel more comfortable and enjoy being alone. If such an option is currently unavailable, I would kindly request you to move me to a hostel within the university premises. As the hostels are cleaned on a daily basis and smoking is prohibited, it would be convenient for me. I am looking forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
Tom Ellio
