Dear Carol,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I am reaching out to you as there is something that has been troubling me and I wanted to discuss it with you. As you know that the fence between our houses is old and some sections of the fence have deteriorated as well, I was thinking if we could get a new fence. I hate to bring it to you but lately, I’ve been having some problems with your cats. The cats jump off the fence to my back yard and break my clay pots. Not to mention, that when they jump off the broken and dingy fence, they could hurt themselves. I really like your cats and would not like to see them get hurt. So, I was thinking to build a new fence. This would prevent your cats to climb it, thereby minimising the chances of injuries. Moreover, this would also result in good security.

We haven both been discussing to rebuild the fence for quite some time now, and this could be a good opportunity to do it.I would really appreciate it if we both could split the cost. I’d be happy to hear your ideas on what kind of fence we could build and we could also discuss about our budget.
