Overall, a significantly higher number of males were arrested compared to females in 1994. In addition it is males who belong to the most common reasons for arrest. However, public drinking was one of the primary reasons for arrest for both genders.

According to the pie charts, the rates of arrested males were 32%, which was more than three times the rate for females (only 9%).

With regards to the reasons for most recent arrest, public drinking topped the list for both groups, accounting for approximately 38% of female arrests and 31% of male arrests. Drink driving was the second most common cause for men around 26%, while for women it contributed about a half of men (14%). Interestingly, females were more likely to arrested for assault (around 20%) than for theft and breach of order, whereas for men, these figures were relatively similar, hovering between 15% and 18%. Other reasons for men and women accounted for about 17% and 19% respectively.
