Overall, the percentage of male and female followed similar downward trends over the period. In addition, the proportion of women was higher than that of men in all age.
Turning to the details, age category from 0 to 9 ride a bike the highest in the table. While female children in this group accounted for 51.4 percentage, the figure for males was slightly lower at 50.3 proportion. Following this, a decline was witnessed in the 10 to 17 age bracket for both genders. The percentage of girls who rode bicycles fell to 42.2 proportions, whereas the percentage of boys saw a much sharper drop, decreasing to 24.6 percentages.
Moving on to the remaining groups, cycling rates continued to decrease significantly among adults. In the 18 to 39 category, the figures plummeted to 17.1 percentages for women and reached a single digit of 9.7 proportion for men. A similar low was recorded for the 40 to 59 age cohort, where the numbers reached their lowest points at 12.3 percetages and 8.0 percentages respectively. Surprisingly, the oldest demographic 60+ showed a slight recovery, with the percentages rising back up to 18.5 proportions for females and 13.2 proportions for males.
