Dear Marc,
I hope you are doing good. I regret to inform you that I can’t make it to your birthday celebration due to a sudden professional commitment has arisen today, which is an unavoidable legitimate reason.
I have been selected for an interview for a Design Engineer position in a reputed international company, which is scheduled on the next day of your birthday. I have learnt this through one of my mails I received today. After a year of trials I have received an interview invitation, I am very excited and nervous at the same time. As I only have 4 days left, I want to utilize any free time in preparing to make sure I give my best in the interview to get selected in my dream role. I couldn’t let you know any sooner than now as I received the invitation today. Its hurts to say that I can’t attend your birthday party considering my schedule and the importance of the opportunity I received.
I really feel sorry for not being able to make it on your birthday celebrations, please accept my apologies. However, I would really love to see you on the first weekend after your birthday. Why don’t we see each other on Saturday at 6 PM to have a pint of beer and food together?
I hope you understand my situation and I really look forward meeting you on the first Saturday or Sunday after your birthday. Thank you so much for being a friend who always understands me and aligns with any situation.
Best Regards
